Independent drug discovery and preclinical development expert with background in immunology and autoimmune diseases, preferred to lead drug discovery projects from target identification to IND.
The successful candidate will lead the discovery strategy for pipeline targets, select and oversee relationship with service providers for the identification of hit molecules, as well as select the appropriate biochemical, biophysical, cellular and in vivo assays to generate preclinical development candidates.
The candidate must have proven skills and significant experience in all drug discovery disciplines, including assay selection, assay development, in vitro, cellular, in vivo pharmacology models and PK/PD/activity relationships. Strong background in immunology and human autoimmune diseases is strongly preferred for this position.
The ideal candidate must be highly independent, self-motivated, collaborative, and eager to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The candidate will work with an experienced team of molecular data and network scientists who are committed to the identification of novel targets for treatment of human autoimmune conditions.
The Role: You will serve as the head of drug discovery programs and your responsibilities will include:
Develop a deep understanding of target biology in autoimmune disease, be resourceful by identifying and establishing collaborations with key external experts in the field to support and guide the strategy for target intervention as it relates to human disease;
Design and lead selection of biochemical and cellular mechanism-of-action assays and studies using a variety of established and novel tools appropriate to assess target and compound activity in autoimmune disease models;
Select, coordinate and manage reputable contract service providers that can conduct target-to-IND activities including in-silico, biochemical or cellular screens for hit identification, medicinal chemistry expertise to optimize hits to leads based on selected target engagement studies and PD marker analyses, and preclinical development of lead compounds based on appropriate animal model pharmacology, ADME, PK and safety studies;
