Scipher Medicine is launching a personalized medicine platform for patients with autoimmune diseases that interpret an individual’s own molecular data to ensure care is tailored to improve the prospect of reaching remission. Most patients diagnosed with autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease and multiple sclerosis face a long and difficult journey of trial error treatment of switching between different drugs with severe side effects without any clinical benefit as most approved drugs only benefit few patients. Beyond being exposed on unnecessary side effects the disease can progress to an irreversible stage while escalating pain is managed by an increased use of opioids. Scipher’s platform allows clinicians to select most optimal treatment pathway for each individual patient. The molecular data from our growing patient population using Scipher’s platform is further analyzed to develop novel therapies for patients who do not respond to current standard of care.

The candidate will support the technical team to develop and apply state-of-the-art computational and statistical methods to deliver testable hypotheses and biological insights. The candidate will collaborate with the other data scientists and bioinformaticians to identify and understand their analyses and information in order to translate these into solutions. Success in this role is measured by the ability to provide strategically relevant, scientifically reliable information that supports the Company goals. The candidate must be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. 

Responsibilities will include: 

-Drive to developing companies’ platforms and algorithms in collaboration with the research team. 

-Participate and lead components of the PRISM-RA and PRISM-UC data analysis projects. 

-Work closely with Harvard Medical School and Northeastern University on Research Sponsored Agreement collaborations. 

-Summarize and communicate results to project teams, provide intellectual input, and contribute to decision-making. 

-Prepare and deliver scientific presentations for both internal and external use 

-Present the company’s scientific results at leading industry conferences 

-Maintain knowledge latest scientific and technology advancements in the field 

-Contribute to high-quality documents and scientific publications 

-Provide regular updates to the technical team 

-Manage each project within agreed upon timelines 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

-Strong background in working with gene expression data 

-Skilled in machine learning and statistical analysis skills 

-Good understanding of systems biology and omics data 

-Proficiency in coding (R and python are preferable) 

-Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative, startup environment 

-Work methodically and in an organized and timely manner to produce high-quality data analysis, minimizing errors 

-Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) 

-Being familiar and experienced in network medicine approaches is preferred 

-Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients 

Minimum Education and Experience 

-MS, or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biological Sciences, or relevant fields 

-+3 years of experience in bioinformatics, systems biology and statistics
